It's been a while since there was a post on the blog! I'm sorry it has been out of action. Last half term was so busy and very short, that we didn't have much time. We spent a lot of time also on our Night Zoo Keeper blog, uploading our tremendous writing.
We have another Night Zoo Keeper competition looming! We did so well on the last one. On 2nd May, a 'London' based writing league will open. We have a better chance in this competition, as it isn't against schools from around the world! It works in the same way as the last writing competition. We just write as much as we can! RULES:
Remember - we only want to win, if all the words we write are the best we can do. We don't want to win by just writing the most words, but none of it make sense or show off what we can really do. So in the meantime, have a look at your writing on Night Zoo Keeper. Is there something you need to go and edit before I publish it? Good luck everyone! Not long now before it begins! MATILDA!
A huge congratulations to Matilda for being our gold star this week. She is always incredibly hard working and she lights up our classroom with her infectious smile. We are incredibly proud of you. Read her OUTSTANDING writing below! 'Just stay quiet, I think it's blind.' We cowered behind our rowing boat, not even daring to look back but somehow my heart kept beating confidently. Nerve-racked, blood curdling and spine chilling, I started slowly standing, but the more I did this, the more scared I suddenly became. Something stopped me from cowardly hiding. I was so horrified, my feet were glued to the decking. I thought to myself, 'Would I ever escape this nightmare?' I muttered into thin air, 'Jump on the beast's back.' I was so scared now, I felt like a knife stabbed me in the stomach. How could I abscond? I saw the reflection: scales as green as earth. We wouldn't escape. When the beat turned, I suddenly jumped on the monster's back. We were sent a tweet by somebody famous!
This week, we were sent a tweet by Carol Vorderman. She is a famous TV personality and Mathematican. She used to work on Countdown, for many years. She started a website called 'The Maths Factor', which helps children practise their Maths skills. She is passionate about all children succeeding in Maths and enjoying it. Kristian uses this website a lot and she has congratulated him! She has also sent us a challenge, to make sure we are learning as much as him! This week is 'Maths Week!' We will be celebrating this subject this week in lots of different ways. We will be thinking a lot about different number facts and finding fun ways of remembering them. We will play lots of games and carry out some investigations to challenge us!
On Friday, you can come to school wearing something with a number on it! It could be a jumper, a football shirt... get creative! Mrs Price will be teaching, so she will be thinking about her outfit too. We will use these numbers in class on Friday. Our learning for this week will be posted up on this blog to share with your families at home. While you're here....what is your favourite thing to learn about in Maths? |
